I mentioned in my first entry that I would never hit everything. And I know now, with this being part FIVE, that I could go on and on about our summer. But I’m going to wrap it up here as best as I can. Here goes…
We are lucky enough to have both sets of parents (mine & Matt’s) live within 5 miles of each other. So when we get the chance to go visit, we can see everyone. We spent a lot of our time over at the Howards’ house while we were in Missouri as well. It also worked out wonderfully that Matt’s little sister, Liz, got to come visit while we were there. She lives in Texas now, so to be able to time our trips at the same time was great! Getting in some snuggle time
Just a-swingin’ with Uncle Nate, Aunt Liz, Haleigh & Luke
Trinity LOVES her Uncle Nate. And with Daddy being gone, she was even more anxious to spend time in his arms. This is one of the rare moments that she was willing to share him with anyone, including his own children.
We also spent a few evenings fishing over at Gigi & Pops’ house.
Pops and Gigi took Mikaela & Chance to a Kansas City Royals game one night. The kids had a blast and even scored free t-shirts that night! They’re a little big (adult mediums), but make wonderful pj’s! :O)
(Sorry the pics are a bit blurry. They are the ones they sent to me over my cell phone.)
We also went fishing at my parents’ one night. The kids were more excited to get to go out in the boat than anything!
Mikaela’s first catch of the night
Rowing back to shore. And yes, we fished till the sun went down. Luckily, Papa is an excellent sailor and had no trouble navigating the dark waters. :O) What a great way to end a great trip!
There’s so much more that isn’t documented here with pictures. We went to the movies a couple times. Played at the park. Went swimming. Rode horses. Had sleepovers. I could go on and on! And much of our time was spent just relaxing and enjoying the time together. I also got the opportunity to get away a couple times without the kids to see old friends that I don’t see nearly enough of.
The trip back to Virginia was smooth sailing as well. My mom got to make the journey back with us, which made it that much more fun. And then she got to stay a few days with us before flying back home! It was a great few weeks that we’ll remember for a long time. The only thing that could have made it any better was if Matt had been with us. But that’s a given, now isn’t it?
